Toma de huellas · Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero

Huellas TIE Granada: your card, from fingerprints to collection

Holders of a long-stay visa or a granted authorisation reserve the toma de huellas soon after arriving in Granada, within a month of entry in most cases: the police take the fingerprints from which your TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) is made. The visa opens the border; the card shows your residence from then on.

The sequence that works

  • Arrive with your visa, or receive the resolution granting your authorisation
  • Register on the padrón at your address
  • Pay the card fee with Modelo 790, código 012, under the TIE option
  • Reserve the fingerprint slot (“toma de huellas”) under the province of Granada
  • Attend with form EX-17, your passport, a photograph, the padrón certificate and the receipt
  • Book the collection slot, then pick up the card with the receipt you were given

The photograph and the details

Bring a recent colour photograph on a white background, passport size, without tinted or reflecting glasses. The EX-17 asks for your address in Spain: write the one of your padrón, so that both papers agree.

Check every letter of your name against the passport before you sign. A transposed letter on the card means another visit to correct it.

Between the two visits

The receipt given at the fingerprint appointment shows that your card is in process. Borders do not treat it as a travel document: a trip abroad in the meantime calls for a return authorisation, obtained before departure.

The two addresses in Granada

Two official pages, two addresses. For the Delegación del Gobierno, numbers, European registrations and cards are a matter for the police unit of San Agapito 2; for the police directory, for the Brigada on Calle La Palmita. The University of Granada sends its students to San Agapito 2. No date on either page settles it, so let the confirmation decide: whichever office it prints is expecting you.

  • Calle San Agapito 2

Oficina de Extranjería de Granada, Dependencia del Cuerpo Nacional de Policía

    Address
Calle San Agapito 2, corner of Ribera del Beiro, 18071 Granada
    Hours
Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 14:00

According to the Delegación del Gobierno page: TIE cards, NIE certificates and assignment, residence certificates, the EU citizens’ regime, return authorisations, stay extensions and Brexit procedures.

The police unit sits inside the Subdelegación del Gobierno’s Oficina de Extranjería, which also decides residence and work authorisations and the EU family member card. Email for documentation: documentacionextranjeria.granada@correo.gob.es.

  • Calle La Palmita s/n

Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras de Granada

    Address
Calle La Palmita s/n, 18014 Granada
    Hours
Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 14:00 (Delegación del Gobierno page)

According to the police directory: TIE issue, NIE certificates and assignment, the EU citizens’ regime, travel documents and cédulas, stay extensions, invitation letters, return authorisations, students, non-lucrative residence and asylum.

The Delegación del Gobierno page lists a narrower set at this address: statelessness, stay extensions, cédulas, travel documents, invitation letters, and asylum and refuge.

Neither official page gives public transport directions to these offices, and we print none we cannot source. Plan your route the day before.

Questions

How long after the fingerprints is the card ready?

No fixed delay is published, and it varies with the season. Keep the receipt from the fingerprint appointment: it is what you hand over to collect the card.

Is the padrón certificate always asked for?

The EX-17 asks for an address in Spain, and desks commonly ask for the padrón certificate to prove it. Registering first avoids a wasted appointment.

My card is expiring: is it the same procedure?

A renewal goes through the residence authorisation first; the new card is then made from fingerprints, as for the first one.
